Abstract

Extrinsic motivation is a type of motivation that arises from outside the individual. Extrinsic motivation is needed to achieve muhadatsah learning objectives. However, based on observations in the muhadatsah learning process, not all students have high extrinsic motivation. Therefore, the aim of this research is to find out information about how to increase extrinsic motivation in muhadatsah learning based on teacher and student perceptions. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. Observation, interview and documentation techniques were used in this research to explore data related to extrinsic motivation in muhadatsah learning according to teacher and student perceptions. The results of this research are the perceptions of teachers and students regarding efforts to increase extrinsic motivation in muhadatsah learning through selecting and using appropriate muhadatsah learning methods, and requiring students to always practice their ability to read muhadatsah texts, providing advice and words of motivation to students, and the need to learn Arabic.
