Abstract

Early childhood habits play a crucial role in shaping children's character, particularly in terms of discipline and environmental awareness. Early childhood is at a developmental stage that is highly sensitive to the values instilled through daily activities, thus habituation programs in early childhood education institutions are an effective strategy for fostering positive character. This study aims to describe and analyze the implementation of habituation programs in shaping the character of discipline and environmental awareness in early childhood at Bali's Golden Child Kindergarten, from the perspective of character education according to Thomas Lickona. The research method used is qualitative with data collection techniques through observation, documentation, and interviews. The research subjects included Bali's Golden Child Kindergarten teachers and children as supporting participants who were observed in habituation activities that were consistently implemented in the school environment. The results of the study indicate that the role of teachers is crucial in instilling the value of discipline through daily learning, positive reinforcement, and simple reflection. Teachers guide children to become accustomed to implementing rules, being responsible, and protecting the environment. In Thomas Lickona's perspective, this habituation encompasses three dimensions of character: Moral Knowing, Moral Feeling, and Moral Action. The conclusion of this study confirms that habituation carried out in a structured and sustainable manner becomes a strong foundation in forming a disciplined and environmentally friendly character in early childhood.
