Abstract

Early childhood refers to children aged 0-6 years who are in various stages of development. One of the potentials being developed is their social-emotional development. Specifically, in the village of Tlogojati, there is a unique phenomenon occurring among early childhood children, which is the presence of children with dreadlocks. These dreadlocked children are part of the community, particularly in terms of their social-emotional development. This research aims to understand the social-emotional development of dreadlocked children, reveal the community's perceptions of the behavior of dreadlocked children, and identify the factors underlying the social-emotional behaviors of these children. This research uses a qualitative approach with a type of phenomenological qualitative research. The data collection techniques used in this research include interviews, observation, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that most children have achieved the basic social development indicators but are hindered in their ability to regulate emotions. Parents' perceptions of their children are closely related to their prior beliefs. The child's condition or environment becomes a factor in their development.
