Abstract

Problems faced by mute parents were also found in Jlamprang Village, Wonosobo Sub-district, Wonosobo District. Both parents have speech impairments that hinder their parenting, thus impacting on their children's language development. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct further research to understand how parents who are mute express their affection and how they teach language to their children. This research uses a qualitative method, which focuses on the quality of the object of research, including the values and meanings contained in people's real lives and the background of their patterns of attitudes and actions. The results showed that the application of democratic parenting carried out by Mr. Sukardi's family was good, with the ability of deaf parents in parenting children to achieve the desired goals. However, there are some obstacles faced by parents with speech impairment in parenting, such as difficulties in communicating with children, understanding children's feelings and desires, and giving directions quickly and effectively.
