The Effect of the Social Environment on Early Childhood Language Development

In early childhood, children's language development is greatly influenced by various factors, one of which is the surrounding community environment. The background of this study is based on the importance of the social environment as one of the dominant external factors in shaping children's language skills. Based on this, this study aims to determine 1) The state of the community environment in Ngabean Hamlet; 2) The community environment influences the language development of early childhood in Ngabean Hamlet; 3) How much influence does the community environment have on the language development of early childhood in Ngabean Hamlet. The type of research used is a quantitative approach with data collection techniques through questionnaires, observations, and documentation. The research subjects were 33 children aged 5-6 years and 6 neighborhood RTs in Ngabean Hamlet with a sample collection technique, namely the census technique. Data analysis techniques used include normality tests, homogeneity tests, simple linear regression tests, and hypothesis tests. The results of the research data analysis show that 1) The condition of the community environment in Ngabean Hamlet is in the fairly good category with an average value of the community environment of 1.33 to 3.7; 2) The community environment has a significant influence on children's language development, this is evidenced by a regression test with a significance value of <0.001 (less than 0.05); 3) The community environment has an influence on the language development of early childhood in Ngabean Hamlet of 38.2%, this is based on the coefficient of determination (R²) value of 0.382.
